Lament From my Husband All Wistful-like

Submitted by Michelle S.

Oh, Weedy Garden,
I'm jealous of you.
You steal my wife
when the sky turns blue.

You get all eated up
by wormies and slugs,
but I 'spose you give food
to flutterbys and bugs.

You give green tomatoes
to squirrels that abound,
and runny babbits nibble
your fleurs to the ground.

Oh Weedy Garden,
you're the cause of my strife!
I wish it were winter--
I WANT BACK MY WIFE!

ON A SEED

This was the goal of the leaf and the root.
For this did the blossom burn its hour.
This little grain is the ultimate fruit.
This is the awesome vessel of power.

For this is the source of the root and the bud...
World unto world unto world remolded.
This is the seed, compact of God,
Wherein all mystery is enfolded.
