| Stewed Okra |

Stewed Okra One of the best ways to cook okra is to stew it with other vegetables. By this, we mean a gentle braising to tenderize the okra, release its juices, and mingle its flavors with the vegetables. There's no need for a long cooking period, which may result in mushy, greyish okra, although simmering in a stew or soup doesn't hurt its mellow flavor. Tomatoes in general are a fantastic compliment to okra, the acidity of the tomato helps to offset the texture of the okra and the taste brings out the flavor of the okra. |
